Over 400 of the 600+ homes in the Browncroft neighborhood are listed in the National Register of Historic Places, as part of the Browncroft Historic District. From the late 1890's until the mid 1910's, the area was the property of the Brown Brothers Nursery. Browncroft Reality Co. developed the area from 1915 through 1930 into beautiful housing sites utilizing many of the existing ornamental trees grown on the nursery grounds, many of which still stand today. Take a stroll down Browncroft Boulevard to admire the magnificent sycamore trees lining the street. Browncroft is bordered to the West by Culver-Winton-Main, to the Southwest by Cobbs Hill, to the East by Brighton, and to the North by East Irondequoit. Browncroft is a great neighborhood for dog owners because of its close proximity to Ellison Park in the neighboring town of Brighton, which has a dog park. Browncroft also has its own Tryon Park, a beautiful quiet wooded park.
