About the Neighborhood

The Western end of the East Ave neighborhood, where it adjoins the Center City, is known as the East End, and is speckled with many of Rochester's most popular bars and nightclubs. Every weekend, the East End comes alive with patrons of the many diverse nightlife venues that the East End has to offer. As you continue on East Avenue past the East End district, you will find some of Rochester's most grandiose homes, some of which remain the single family homes of Rochester's most accomplished business people. One such mansion, the former home of Kodak's founder, George Eastman, is now a photography museum open to the public, and an example of the glory of these beautiful mansions with its pristine period décor. Another main attraction is the Rochester Science Museum and Strasenburgh Planetarium, a hands-on interactive museum with excellent local history exhibits, as well as rotating exhibits which are brought in from around the world.
