All the way out in the Northwest corner of Monroe County lies the town of Hamlin, nestled against the shores of Lake Ontario. Hamilin's claim to fame with locals is its beautiful Hamlin Beach State Park. The park is less than a 30 minute drive for most Rochestarians, and includes a scenic ride down the Lake Ontario State Parkway. The Parkway was built for leisurely Sunday drives through the park, and at times, runs right along Lake Ontario. Surrounding the parkway is the marshy Braddock Bay State Fish and Wildlife Management Area which is home to hundreds of thousands of birds, many of which are rare species. If you enjoy a more marine existence, Hamlin is the site of three marinas, a yacht club, and a public boat launch.
