Pittsford has long been home to Rochester's well-to-do. As a result, the village is packed with charming 19th century buildings that have been impeccably preserved and re-purposed. The most notable of these re-purposed structures are located along the Erie Canal in Schoen Place. An old coal tower is now home to Pittsford's favorite diner, the aptly named Village Coal Tower Restaurant, and an old grain silo and warehouse are now premium office space overlooking the canal. Another hotspot in Pittsford is the stretch along Monroe Ave. that includes Pittsford Plaza. Here you'll find a few Rochester favorites, including Wegmans' flagship store and the popular Next Door Bar and Grill. Sprinkled throughout the town are upscale housing developments, and a few picturesque farms, such as the oh-so-wholesome Pittsford Dairy. Don't worry if you're hanging out in downtown Rochester and you're craving a taste of Pittsford. You can always get a hot chocolate at Java's (pg. 14) made with Pittsford Dairy milk.
